Curious, if true is a neo-gothic tale inspired by Edward Lear's The Owl and the Pussycat, a love story between four anthropomorphic animals. Curious, if true brings together a series of sculptural-installation works by artist Leilei Wu. The four monstrous arthropod-like creatures presented in the exhibition are algorithmically captured and domesticated in a narrative of metamorphosis expounded by the artist. They draw nutrients from the re-used industrial materials and perform mechanisms similar to those used by invertebrates, acquiring rigid exoskeletons through a variety of mineralisations, constructing the exhibition site as an enigmatic, serendipitous shelter being slowly activated by an uncanny tale. The exhibition is curated by Yicong Sun.
