call for proposals:

The Symposium of Post-Mysticism invites proposals from practitioners whose work concerns the anime girl and otaku existence.

The Symposium is open to practitioners from any country. Online participation takes place via Zoom and may take the form of a livestream / multimedia presentation / audio-only talk (no face reveal is required). A closing roundtable will follow individual presentations; the symposium will be recorded and available via Solo Show Online.

We are looking for: philosophy, theory-fiction, theology and other writing that treats the anime girl as a formal entity; analytical work developed from inside subcultural traditions; commentary on ones own devotional practice.

We are not looking for: media studies, platform studies, cultural theory or internet anthropology.

Presentations may draw on a body of work across mediums: longform writing, posting practices, user archives and multimedia projects are all acceptable.

Proposals should include a brief description of your intended presentation or an introduction to your practise; links to existing work if relevant.
